Synopsis

Many people long for the day that they can live their dreams through their dream career which is more than a job. It is the idea that “work” can constitute a significant part of the individual, sufficient to give them fulfillment and happiness. In the past, a career was simply the idea of working for a sufficiently long period of time to build expertise and to progress. However, this definition of career is increasingly being challenged in the society today. More people are starting to look beyond just seeking employment to build their own business instead. Others are looking at redefining the traditional meaning of “career”. How are the changes in our society changing the way “career” is viewed? And how would this change impact the development of “OUR Singapore Dream”?

1. Entrepreneurship: Building your own career
Is there still the reliance on building a career with an established organization, or has the idea that an individual can build a career out of his/her own passion and interest finally arrived?

2. Branching Out: Expanding your career horizons
Are Singaporeans ready to move out of Singapore in order to further develop themselves professionally or to make their mark in a foreign land?

3. 21st Century Skills: Skills to build your career
Are Singaporeans equipped with the necessary skills to compete with job seekers from other countries seeking to work and settle down in Singapore?
