Sub-Theme 3: Children and Family

Synopsis

In SM Goh‟s speech, it was cited that “Children refer to home and family and a new cycle of life. They are the main reasons why many of us want to have a good Career and a Comfortable home.” However, Singapore‟s fertility rate is one of the lowest in the world and the aged population will increase quickly over the next 20 years. The low fertility rate could indicate that Singaporean is placing lesser emphasis on starting a family and the difficulties in wanting to start a family. This sub-themes explore how changing times affect family planning and recommend ideas on how family can be at the core of every Singapore dream.
