ST3: Redefining Success & Merits
1. Rethinking Meritocracy and Success in Singapore
If grades were no longer the main measure of success, what would it look like? Participants will examine how success in Singapore is often tied to academic achievement, prestigious careers and material stability, while exploring how societal expectations and unequal access to opportunities shape different pathways in life. Teams will also prepare for the upcoming public street interviews.
2. Public Street Interviews on Success and Merit
What do Singaporeans really think about success? Participants will learn how to engage the public respectfully, pose open-ended questions and gather authentic perspectives on how success, merit and achievement are understood across society.
3. Making Sense of Public Perspectives
What can public voices reveal about Singapore’s definition of success? Participants will analyse the interview findings, identify key patterns, and reflect on how societal mindsets, lived experiences, and opportunities influence perceptions of success and merit.
4. Panel Dialogue: Expanding Perspectives on Success
Success does not follow one linear path. Through dialogue with speakers from diverse backgrounds, participants will explore broader definitions of success that extend beyond grades and conventional careers, embracing resilience, purpose, contribution and personal fulfilment.
